Process Actions Overview and Types
Actions are special parts of program that do different things configured by user. They allow to manage records, perform calculations, start sub-processes, send emails, etc.
Actions are available to be added to either a Process Step or Connector. The Action will be performed once the Step Validation Rules (or Connector Rules) you have added are satisfied.
Read proper articles to know how to add, edit and delete actions on Process Steps and on Connectors.
Action Types, available to use on Process Builder, are the following.
Some are the same as Global Actions - they are configured in the same ways:
- Create Record
- Update Records
- Delete Records
- Callout
- Create Issue (the only difference is that Process action allows to create non-float tasks/issues only, and these tasks/issues will be related to the process instance which action has been triggered at. Float Task/Issue is related to some specific record; non-float Task/Issue is specific to some particular flow instance).
- Define Variable
- Send Email
- Execute Apex
Some are specific to Process:
Library stores pre-configured Actions, provided with application or created by user. To know how to add and manage Actions in Library, read the Library article.
To know about Standard Library Actions read the proper article.
The Process Actions are actually the same as global ones (see Actions and Action Groups chapter) except types that are specific to process ("Define Variable" and "Start Subprocess").
See the proper article to know how actions are executed.
