Gantt Settings
User can set Gantt settings related to calculation modes and access.
In the process builder click "Open Process Settings" menu item in the "Actions" menu to open "Edit Process Settings" window.
Gantt Settings are not allowed for sub-processes. They will be inherited from the parent process.
Navigate to the Gantt Settings tab:
The following settings may be modified on the "Gantt Settings" tab:
- Calculate dates before starting the process - If turned on, a Planned Record will be created when the Process Instance is created. This Planned Record will have Planned Start and End Dates calculated for each (active, pending and future) step. These are actual dates for "Date Driven" calculation modes. In "Duration Driven" calculation mode, dates are shown for estimation purposes only and are not saved.
- Default calculation mode - Select how future steps' dates will be updated when a date/duration of a preceding step is changed. See the dedicated knowledge article to learn more.
- How to handle manual date changes - select how steps should behave when their dates will be changed.
"Calculate durations" feature is deprecated in v. 8.7.
"Calculate dates before starting the process" property is applicable for steps with Calculation Mode set to Date Driven (Soft or Hard). The calculation mode can be set on a particular step in the Gantt chart or to all process steps by selecting the desired Default Calculation Mode.
- Show Issues - if turn it on, tasks and issues, added for some step, will be displayed in the Gantt chart like other steps (in progress or completed). This can be useful for process managers or assignees and will behave like additional steps. When this checkbox is shown, a picklist will be displayed with options that filter issues displayed (all/in progress/completed)
- Additional Access - specific access to Gantt editing can be provided to users/roles/profiles, whether they are step assignees or not, by selecting them in the proper field. Access can be granted to Process Manager(s) and Instance Manager(s) separately with the appropriate checkboxes. Entities for additional access can be selected together:
Navigate to the Gantt Settings tab:
The following settings may be modified on the "Gantt Settings" tab:
- Calculate dates before starting the process - If checked, a Planned Record will be created when the Process Instance is created. This Planned Record will have Planned Start and End Dates calculated for each (active, pending and future) step. These are actual dates for "Date Driven" calculation modes (4). In "Duration Driven" calculation mode, dates are shown for estimation purposes only and are not saved.
- Calculate durations - When checked, step durations that are defined as expressions will be pre-calculated and static in the Gantt chart. Otherwise, durations will be shown as formulas and calculated dynamically each time you open the Gantt chart of a planned or started record.
- Default calculation mode - Select how future steps' dates will be updated when a date/duration of a preceding step is changed. See the dedicated knowledge article to learn more.
- How to handle manual date changes - Select how steps should behave when their dates will be changed.
Note: "Calculate dates before starting the process" and "Calculate Durations" settings are applicable for steps with Calculation Mode set to Date Driven (Soft or Hard). The calculation mode can be set on a particular step in the Gantt chart or to all process steps by selecting the desired Default Calculation Mode.
- From the version 8.4 there is "Show Issues" checkbox available. If check it, tasks and issues, added for some step, will be displayed in the Gantt chart like other steps - in progress or completed. This can be useful for process managers or assignees and will behave like additional steps.
When this checkbox is shown, there a picklist will be displayed with options that filter issues displayed (all/in progress/completed):
Additional Access
Define a list of IDs for users/roles/profiles that should be able to edit the Gantt, whether they are step assignees or not. Additionally, quickly define access for Process Manager(s) and Instance Manager(s) via the checkboxes.
Multiple IDs should be separated with comma.
