What's new?

Release 8.4:

Dashboards:

  1. Task Manager Dashboard now has Quick Search.
The Work-Relay Task Manager now has a search bar at the top of the dashboard, enabling users to easily find the desired card according to the search criteria. Just like the native Salesforce list view search feature, simply type your search phrase and the dashboard will filter the items when you submit your query or click off of the search bar. This feature will currently search across Step/Task/Issue name, Record Name and Process Name fields.
  2. Task Manager Dashboard can now be filtered by Priority.
The Filter panel now allows the user to choose to filter by Step/Task/Issue Priority. Easily focus on the right tasks!
  3. Task Manager Dashboard can now display Process progress directly in Step details.
The Process progress bar is now visible in a Step's General component, which can help users see and understand where they are in the overall Process. More context and visual indication = better user experience!
  4. Time Logs Dashboard is now live.
This new Dashboard is capable of providing flexible and insightful reports on Time Logs. Want to monitor your own or your team members' working time? Try this new powerful dashboard to summarize and review Time Log Entries, without the assistance of an admin or developer! Generate and export reports grouped by processes, records, steps, users and types.

Forms:

  1. Embed native Salesforce Screen Flows in Forms.
Screen Flows can now be seamlessly incorporated into Work-Relay process steps by embedding them directly into Forms! Form fields (and other values) can easily be mapped to the Screen Flow's input parameters, and the Form can be configured to react to Screen Flow status change events, driving future steps.
  2. Work-Relay Forms can execute actions related to the Progress bar.
Are the current Proceed/Approve/Reject features too basic for you? Try out a new powerful mechanism that enhances the integration of the Workflow Line with Work-Relay Forms and enables customers to implement advanced scenarios by providing them with greater control over the Workflow Line's behavior within a step layout form. Add conditions, calculations and other power-ups to your Progress Bar. Now you can control a Progress Bar directly from the form, and even do this more efficiently. Proceed, approve, reject steps, enable, disable, hide and show buttons, change their labels on-the-fly and based on conditions. Transform forms into powerful steps processor!
  3. Tabbed Form layouts.
Have you been wishing for tabs on your Forms? This one is for you! Forms can now be configured as single page with tabs. Even better, you can convert existing multi-page wizard Forms to the new tabbed layout with a single mouse click. Add desired conditions to tabs to create more user-friendly and dynamic Forms that cater to different user needs and scenarios.
  4. Improved "Save" action for related records.
Now you can save changes in lists and related lists (that have changes in "inline edit" mode) without having to save the entire form. This is very useful when you want to make minor updates in related records (especially of other Data Source), but do not want to save the entire record that is displayed in the form.

Processes:

  1. Overlay statistics on the Process Diagram.
This enhancement uses the Process Diagram itself to visualize the Step Stats, making it an impressive and convenient visual representation of the Stats data that provides insight into trends and patterns on how the process flows on the average (including limiting the Stats to a desired time range). Reminders, Escalations, Step Executions, Durations - try visualizing all of the useful metrics!
  2. Ad hoc Tasks/Issues now show in the Process Progress Bar and Gantt.
Ad hoc Tasks/Issues now display within the context of a Process's Progress Bar. The Due Dates of these ad hoc Tasks/Issues will now also have an effect on the timing of a given Process Instance, bringing their behavior closer to that of a traditional Process Step.

Other:

  1. New Functions implemented to facilitate checking the execution status of specific steps.
RULECOMPLETED and ACTIONCOMPLETED functions allow the system to programmatically check if a specific Step's validation rule or action has been executed.
  2. Improved Time Logs.
The Time Log component has been enhanced based on customer requests. Many improvements have been made to provide a more comprehensive time tracking solution. Log work for any Step in a Process, view Time Logs for all Steps, and retain Time Logs even if a Branch or Process is restarted.

Release 8.2:

Dashboards:

  1. Kanban Task Manager Dashboard Enhancements.
The Kanban view of the Work-Relay Task Manager has been transformed! This user interface overhaul better aligns with the Lightning user experience, clarifies the information being presented, addresses accessibility concerns, and provides users with more control over the dashboard’s configuration. With the new Task Manager experience, users are able to understand and complete their work items more quickly than ever, helping your organization relay work across departments at gold medal pace!

  2. Planning Dashboard Filter Enhancements.
Work-Relay’s Planning Dashboard now offers expanded task filtering capabilities, allowing users to filter tasks by fields from process data source objects. Users can select specific objects and dynamically filter based on their fields, with the ability to define custom logic using 'AND' and 'OR' operators. This update simplifies finding tasks related to specific process instances or segments, making it easier to locate relevant information quickly.

  3. Allow opening Task Manager Item by URL with filter parameters.
Users can now navigate to the Work-Relay Task Manager using a dedicated URL with pre-set filter parameters. This feature enhances cross-system integration by allowing external systems to link directly to a filtered view of tasks within the Task Manager. Filter parameters can be passed as a JSON object, ensuring users arrive at the relevant, pre-filtered task view instantly, improving workflow efficiency and navigation.

Processes Management:

  1. Edit Processes in the Process Wizard.
Expanding upon Process Wizard functionality delivered in Release 7.5, Work-Relay Administrators are now able to edit their processes directly in the Process Wizard interface. This provides a unified experience for Process Administrators, allowing them to update processes quickly and easily, without navigating to the Process Designer.

  2. Process Component Change Audit.
Work-Relay now includes a Process Changes Audit Trail feature, designed to ensure full tracking and accountability of modifications made to Processes. Users are prompted to provide optional comments when saving changes, and a new 'Audit Trail' tab on the Process Overview Page displays change history, including when, who, and why a change was made. Detailed logs are available for each change, enhancing transparency, facilitating audits, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

  3. Background Task Monitor.
New visibility features for the Work-Relay Background Task Monitor provide quick and easy access to error details and performance metrics. Work-Relay Administrators can now view a comprehensive overview of background jobs, including the number of items processed, trend indicators, start and completion dates, duration, successes, and failures. Clicking on failures allows users to see detailed error logs, and trend indicators are interactive, displaying charts for historical performance. These enhancements improve transparency, reduce manual error matching, and simplify monitoring the overall efficiency of Work-Relay scheduled jobs.

  4. Process Migration/Deployment Using Salesforce Connected Apps.
Work-Relay now supports Salesforce Connected App authentication for deploying components such as Process Versions, Forms, and Actions between Salesforce Orgs. This enhancement eliminates the need for manual user credential entry, especially benefiting clients using SSO. Users can configure target organizations using Connected Apps, providing secure, password-free deployment. A predefined Connected App is also included for quick setup, giving clients full control while maintaining security and compliance, significantly improving the efficiency of the deployment process.

  5. Super Admin Settings Update.
The Super Admin configuration in Work-Relay Settings has been enhanced for easier management. System Administrators can now add Super Admins via a user lookup component, eliminating the need to manually enter user IDs. The updated user interface also displays the list of Super Admins in a table format with user names, streamlining the process and reducing the effort needed to manage Super Admin roles.

  6. Step Form - Dynamic by Formula.
Work-Relay now allows administrators to configure step layout Forms using formula expressions, providing flexibility to display different Forms for the same step based on specified criteria. This feature introduces a new "Expression" layout mode, complete with an expression builder for easy configuration. The updated Form Selector supports both static and dynamic Form selection, reducing the need for large, cumbersome parent Forms and making future maintenance more efficient.

  7. Step History - Pending Duration.
Work-Relay now includes a "Pending Duration" metric in the Step History, showing the number of hours a step remained in the Pending status after activation by its predecessor. This enhancement provides better visibility into Process delays, allowing for improved analysis and optimization.

  8. Step Predicted Duration.
Work-Relay now includes predicted duration metrics, using statistical averages (median duration) for each Process Step. These metrics are visualized in various components, including popovers on Steps in the Workflow Line Component and Progress Dashboard, as well as in the Step Statistics section of the Process Overview Dashboard. This enhancement allows users to better anticipate the time required for each step, improving planning and management of Processes.

  9. Process Overview for All Users.
Work-Relay now provides a Lightning Component displaying Process Totals, available for Work-Relay Standard Users. Previously, only Work-Relay Admins could view Process statistics via the "Processes" tab. This enhancement provides visibility and accessibility to these key metrics for all users, making them readily available on any Lightning Page using Salesforce Lightning Page Builder.

  10. Process Time Logs Enhancements.
The Step Time Log component in Work-Relay has been enhanced to provide a more complete and flexible time tracking solution. Users can now log work for any Process Step, view time logs across all Steps, and retain these logs even when Process Instances are restarted. Permissions for editing or deleting time logs are restricted to time log owners and administrators, with optional extended access settings. User interface improvements include renaming the "Time Reporting" dialog to "Log Work," defaulting the "Billable" flag to checked, and rearranging the "Time Logs" panel for better usability.

  11. Issues/Tasks permission system improvements.
The Issues permission system in Work-Relay has been updated to ensure that only authorized users can add Issues to active Steps. Now, only the Assignee, Process Manager, Flow Admin, Instance Manager, and Super Admin have permission to add Issues. Additionally, permissions for extending Issue access are configurable in the "Additional Access" section of Process Settings, providing better control over who can manage Issues.
