Start Conditions

When creating a new flow you'll be prompted for basic information about that flow along with the opportunity to define the Start Conditions for that flow. Start conditions allow you to create rules that must be met before a particular flow will be triggered.

Flow Detail

Here are the options available to you when creating or editing a flow.

Flow Options:

  1. Provide a descriptive Flow Name
  2. Choose a Start Type - What action should trigger the start of this flow?
  3. Select User Permissions - Who can make changes to this flow?
  4. Choose the primary data source for this flow - There needs to be a data source that can be used to link to the flow for display purposes. e.g. a flow related to an order would likely use the order object as the Data Source.
  5. Chatter Options - If checked, Chatter will be used to notify users when it is their turn to start a step. Unchecked means the notification will be sent by email.

Specifying Trigger Conditions

Specifying Trigger Conditions

Conditions allow you to define rules that dictate when a particular flow will be triggered.

To add Conditions to your flow:

  1. Click Add Condition to add a new condition. This will add a row to the Condition table below. You can add as many conditions as you need.
  2. The Conditions Logic field is used to express AND and OR logic to the conditions you've added. The numbers refer to the index (the Conditions record number). Each index number is enclosed in {} parentheses, and () parentheses are used to control the evaluation sequence.
  3. These are the rows that were added by clicking Add Condition above. You can then select the appropriate data you wish to evaluate from the Field Name drop down selector. These fields will automatically be populated from the data objects you chose earlier when creating the flow.
  4. You can define the specific values that need to be met for each condition. Work-Relay will provide appropriate selectors to ease this process. For example, date operations can be selected from a calendar or typed manually.
