Gantt Resource Pool Manager

When some steps are assigned to Resource or Resource Pool, these assignments will be properly displayed in Gantt chart:

  • If step is assigned to Resource(s), they will be listed after "[RESOURCE]:" label (1)
  • If step is assigned to Resource Pool(s), they will be listed after "[RESOURCE POOL]:" label (2)
  • Active steps will have assignees shown in black color (3)
  • When system successfully assigned resources from Resource Pool, future steps will be shown in green color (4)
  • When system could not assign resource or minimal required amount of resources from the pool, future steps will be shown in red color (5)

Clicking on Resource or Resource Pool assignee on the future step will show a popup with Task Resources or Task Resource Pools management form.

Task Resources

This popup is shown for steps that have Resources assigned. It contains:

  • Step (task) name (6)
  • Time slot selector (7)
  • "Find nearest available date" button (8)
  • "Refresh availability" button (9)
  • "Assigned Resources" section (10)
  • "All Resources" section (11)

Also popup will show a warning (12) if the current step has "Duration Driven" calculation mode.

  • The "Assigned Resources" section shows statuses of currently assigned Resources and allows to remove any of them by clicking "Remove Resource" buttons (13).
  • The "All Resources" section shows statuses of all other Resources and allows to assign them to current step by clicking "Assign Resource" buttons (14). Also, to find necessary Resource, user can type some text into the "Filter Resources" field (17).
  • If some Resource is not available, it's status will have a hint icon (15). Hint will be shown on mouse hover. It will contain information about task this resource is busy at (16).
  • It any time user can click "Refresh availability" button (9) to get newest Resources Availability statuses from server (will be useful when Resources can be assigned somewhere else by other user).

Time selector (7) allows user to quickly find a period of time when necessary Resources are available. Time slot which availability is shown for, corresponds to task duration and planned start/end dates by default. Click on "Shift Backward"/"Shift Forward" buttons (18, 19) to check Resources availability for the previous/next time slot (interval). Time slots consider business hours.

It can be no dates when all assigned resources are available near to the current time slot. In this case user can try to find nearest available date. To do this click "Find nearest available date" button (8) and click "Yes" in confirmation popup:

System will try to find suitable time slot. The progress will be shown in the popup appeared (20). This process is not so fast, so, user is able to interrupt it in any time by clicking "Abort" button (21).

After available dates are find successfully, system will apply them and show the proper time slot (22). don't forget to save changes (23).

The task (step) will get a new date. Other steps can have dates changed depending on current Recalculation Algorithm.

It is not guaranteed that system find available dates successfully. It will just try.

If changes in the current step will affect other steps (depending on Recalculation Algorithm) system will ask for Resource Availability Recalculation after saving new time slot (24). User can allow this, cancel and remember his choice (25) for the current session of working with current Gantt chart.

If user needs this recalculation, he can do it at any time by clicking button "Recalculate Resources Availability" at the top (26):

Task Resource Pools

This popup is shown for steps that have Resource Pool(s) assigned. It contains several interface elements that are the same as in Task Resources popup:

  • Step (task) name
  • Time slot selector
  • "Find nearest available date" button
  • "Refresh availability" button

And this popup has 2 sections that differ from Task Resources popup:

  • "Resource Pools" section (27)
  • "Conditions..." section (28)

Also popup will show the same warning as in the Task Resources popup if the current step has "Duration Driven" calculation mode.

  • The "Resource Pools" section shows list of currently assigned Resource Pools.
  • Clicking on the pool will show it's conditions in the proper section.
  • The "Conditions..." section shows the following information about selected Resource Pool:
    • Condition name (29)
    • Type of Resources (30; will show "Human" if at least one Resource has "Human" type)
    • Amount of resources:
      • Target (31)
      • Minimal (32)
      • Actually assigned (33)
    • List of resources actually assigned (34)
  • Clicking on the Conditions entry line shows a popup with more detailed information (35):

This popup is almost the same as Task Resources, except some differences:

  • No "Find nearest available date" button there
  • Time slot is shown as read-only, not as selector
  • "All Resources" section shown only Resources that match Pool Conditions
  • Pool name is shown too (36)
  • Resource availability summary chart is shown (37). If system could not find target amount of resources, this chart will show it:

  • Also, in this case Pool and conditions will be shown in yellow warning color with proper icon (38):

The Task Resource Pools popup also has "Save & Convert to Resources" button (39). Clicking on it will change assignee from Resource Pool to Resources. The list of assigned Resources will be contain all Resources that were available in all Pools assigned to current step earlier.

If try to find nearest available date for Resource Pools (by clicking button 40), system will ask for search stop criteria. Select appropriate option and click "Yes" to continue:
